Italy Catania Mobility
Monday

The first Learning/Teaching/Training activity of the ERASMUS+ Project “Learn & Earn” took place in Catania-Italy from the 9th to 15th December 2018. The participants, teachers and students, came from 3 European countries: Germany (Gummersbach), Malta (Paola) and Portugal (Fatima). The planned activity for this mobility was a Training Course on Career Guidance in UE”.
The first day started with a friendly welcome given to our guests and a Warm-up activity “Who R U?" that offered the students the opportunity to get to know each other. Links to Who R U? Slides

After that students presented Ppt and Videos on: -"Schools" (Italian school Link), (Malta school Link), (German Link), (Portugal Link).
"Habits and customs of each country" (Malta Link), (Portugal Link), (German Link) and (Italian Link) and
"The most in-demand jobs in Germany, Italy, Malta and Portugal" (Malta Link), (Portugal Link), (German Link) and (Italian Link).
Moreover German, Maltese and Portuguese students presented a Ppt on“What do you know about Italy?” After lunch, each country presented the logos for the competition.

The students attended a workshop on career guidance and, working in multicultural groups, created their Europass CV and their English Language Passport.
Tuesday

On Tuesday we visited the “CioKarrua Company”in Modica, engaged in the manufacture of chocolate. During the interesting guided tour of the company, we were told its history and saw the manufacturing process of its products.
The students had the opportunity to interview the young entrepreneur focusing the attention on the marketing strategies of his successful business.
Later we went to Ortigia, a small island also known as Old City, that is the ancient centre of the city of Syracuse and contains many historical landmarks.
We had lunch there and enjoyed the magical sights and attractions of the town.

Wednesday
​
The third day started at school where students attended a Workshop on: EURO PASS: Guidelines “How to write a Cover Letter” and then, in multicultural groups, wrote some Cover Letters in order to introduce their CVs to potential employers highlighting their suitability for the role. In the meanwhile teachers held a Staff meeting and discussed the tasks and how they could be accomplished for the next meeting in Germany.

After lunch we went to Taormina, a charming historical city with one of the world's greatest views. There we visited the Greek theater and had an interesting tour through the town.
Thursday
The fourth day we went to the University of Economics where students attended a Training session on “How to start a Business ” and “Branding” held by the Professor of Economics Ms Nicotra, and on “Erasmus traineeship: an open window to the future” held by Ms Tutino, responsible for the International Mobility Office of the University of Catania with the collaboration of Ms Milici. An international group activity followed during which students worked on a Business Game.(Link to the workshop activity)
At 1:30 p.m. we were welcomed to Radio Zammù Studio where teachers and students of the various countries were interviewed and had the opportunity to speak about the objectives of the Erasmus+ project “Learn & Earn” during the live program “Time out” (Link https://youtu.be/IKtR45VosQU)
After lunch we enjoyed the afternoon with a guided Tour of the historic centre of Catania.

Friday
The fifth day started at school with a workshop held by Ms Alessandra La Marca, doctor in Economics, on “How to write an outstanding CV and How to face a successful job interview”.(Link to the PPt)

Student learnt how to improve and personalize their CV and how to behave and to be attractive for a job interview.
Later Ms Oliva and Ms La Piana, responsible for the Youth Centre of the Municipality of Catania, held a Conference on the opportunities that the European Union gives to young people and explained to the students what the platform EURES is and how to use it in order to find a job in the European countries.
After that there was the Official Farewell with the delivery of the Certificates of attendance.
We took some pictures of all the participants and said goodbye to everyone, looking forward to meeting them all in Germany for the next mobility.
